Gland Surgery is indexed by Science Citation Index Expanded: the best ending of 2018

On December 30, 2018, we excitedly learned from Clarivate Analytics (former Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property and Science Business) that Gland Surgery (GS) has been officially indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE).

GS is the 9th SCIE-indexed journal of AME Publishing Company, and the former 8 are detailed below:

Gland Surgery is an open access, peer-review journal jointly led by Editors-in-Chief Prof. Emad Kandil from Tulane University Medical School (USA), Prof. Xi-Ru Li from the First Military Medical University (China) and Prof. Zhiming Wang from Xiangya Hospital Central South University (China). As a journal with an international perspective and focus on diversity, we pride ourselves on having a powerful and efficient editorial team (Figures 1, 2) from all over the world.

Firmly bearing the aim of publication in mind, GS has published a great number of high-quality articles since its birth on May 2012. In 2018, the majority of the corresponding authors come from USA, followed by Italy, UK, and China (Figure 3).

Up to now, we have altogether published 34 issues, among which there are 18 issues focus on the diagnosis and treatment of breast and thyroid diseases (Table 1). Moreover, we will have 7 upcoming focused issues (Table 2) with particular focus on prepectoral breast reconstruction, adrenal tumors, thyroid nodules and visualized surgical procedures on breast surgery in 2019. By this chance, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all editorial board members, guest editors, authors, as well as reviewers.

During the past seven years, GS encountered various difficulties, met different challenges, and sharpened itself step by step after being tempered by these valuable tests. We are more than pleased to share with all of you the progress GS has gained during its growth. Currently, the citation of GS has increased significantly with a total reaching 1,743 by December 31, 2018 (Figure 4). Furthermore, the retrieval of GS in PubMed keeps a steady upward tendency during the past years (Figure 5).

Till now, GS has been indexed by PubMed/PubMed Central, Scopus and SCIE. We can’t achieve this without the continuous support and contributions of GS’s editorial board members, guest editors, authors, reviewers and readers. We hereby would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all the contributors.

GS will give its best efforts to maintain a high-standard publication in the field and also the high-quality academic exchange platform where clinicians, scientists and researchers can showcase their potentials and achieve their aspirations.
