Maurice Nahabedian, MD is plastic and reconstructive surgeon in private practice in Northern Virginia at the National Center for Plastic Surgery. Dr. Nahabedian completed a full general surgery residency at the University of California, Irvine in 1992 and his Plastic Surgery residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1995. Following a brief period in private practice, he joined the full-time faculty at Johns Hopkins University in 1997 where he remained until 2005. He joined the faculty at Georgetown University in 2005 and remained until 2017 where he was a Professor and the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery from 2012-2017.

Over the past 20 years, Dr. Nahabedian has focused on all aspects of breast surgery and he has performed over 3,000 primary breast reconstructions using autologous, prosthetic and oncoplastic techniques. Dr. Nahabedian has chaired 19 conferences throughout the United States that include the Santa Fe Breast and Body Contouring Symposium, Aesthetica, Dueling Perspectives in Aesthetic Surgery, Complications in Plastic Surgery, Breast Cancer Comprehensive Conference (BC3) and the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Symposium. He is the current Chairman for the 2018 ASPS annual meeting.

Dr. Nahabedian has been a visiting professor at 90 hospitals and universities since 2004 and has published over 200 scientific manuscripts, editorials, and discussions, as well as 70 book chapters. He has peen the principal editor of 7 textbooks and an associate editor of 2 textbooks on breast surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction. Dr. Nahabedian was the Breast Section Editor for the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from 2009 – 2017 and remains on the editorial board of 4 other surgery journals. Dr. Nahabedian is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American College of Surgeons, American Association of Plastic Surgeons, and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery.
